CONCLUSION
Final Points
The Screwtape Letters is a book that uses humor to describe what it might be like if devils were real and had to learn how to tempt humans. It makes many thought-provoking points on human nature and how they connect to the seven deadly sins. Pride seems to be one of the worst, based on this text, because a person can have pride in anything. It can easily connect to other sins or actions, even actions that seem good or neutral, but with too much pride, it becomes sinful. Another important point made by Screwtape is the power of fantasy. Fantasy can skew anything from being innocent and good to being immoral and bad. His other striking point is his view on love, that it is not needed for marriage and can be so easily manipulated for the bad. It definitely can be manipulated because it is one of the most vulnerable things a human can experience.

My own personal thoughts on this book are as follows: I loved it, however, I do not see how it promotes a Christian agenda as the quotes on the back say. The quotes on the back of my edition praise Lewis for his Christian and persuading writing. I do not get it. I do not see how this text sheds any positive light on Christianity. If anything, it is sarcastically showing the faults. It describes how many churches are "Christianity And" as well as how each church works towards its own agenda. It describes much of the difficulty in life, that so many people seem to be out only for their own good. The whole thing is particularly funny and ironic because the quotes are saying they believe the book and thus believe in the cahoots of these devil tempters. It is all very silly to me.
